Snertville

After playing Baba for almost 2 years, I have met most of these. And they all react to Baba, or rather - they react to what they percieve to be me in a mix between their own assumptions of what is me, and what they see of Baba. Their names changes, but their rants are the same. And based on the same feeling I would guess too. And every so often, they karmabomb. Or as I call it, the karma trickle.

I just came back from another meeting with one of these, and the arguments are the same. You are a bitch, get a life etc. Of course, there are a zillion others that play the game far more than I do - but hey - they are males..

Their conclusions are so far out, you know you simply don´t stand a chance in enlightening them. As the case was with Atomical, who was also one of these. All you can do is laugh at them or feel sorry for them, and hope that they will mature some over the years, and then ignore. They are 14 year old, and they know everything. They have an easy time with females that don´t have claws, but they simply can´t stand the thought of being yelled at, or worse - ignored by one that has. They are a special breed of players. They are Snertville.

They don´t understand that the reaction they get is what they gave in the first place. That if someone are nice to them, it generally means that they have been nice. And that the opposite also holds true. They don´t understand that the gap in maturity level between players actually mean something in case of understanding, humour, references etc. They of course, know it all, because they have lived so long. 14 years. They don´t understand that any action gives birth to a reaction. Famous words from one of these after he was sued for pushing exiles into the undine cave. " But I was just roleplaying!" as if that would explain the whole thing and let him off the hook... They don´t understand the concept of IC and OOC, they don´t understand that what they see is not necessarily whats happening, and that an icon in most cases is not the same as the player behind. To try to explain any one of these things to them, is a lost cause. I generally just hit /ignore , but I have to admit I find them hilarious sometimes, so I have to listen in on their conversations. A jewel from one of these conversations, name sensored - he IS young you know.. (By the way, he was trying to prove I was stupid..):

xxxxx says, "you think you're really old, which is an insult to you in the first place"
Babajaga says, "maybe I am xxxxx ;)"
xxxxx says, "because you play this game nonstop"
Babajaga asks, "Age is an insult?" Babajaga laughs.

I have to admit, I´m not used to teenagers way of thinking. In real life I rarely meet them, and when I do - I come in the shape of something cool and fun. In CL they are usually easy to avoid, but sometimes I feel I have to meet them and their odd ways.

Hitting /ignore is actually the worst thing I can do to them. Which I find even more weird. When I do that, I do that in the knowledge that we never can actually meet on anything, since the gap is just too wide. I could of course go after them, and torment them with "smartass" remarks, getting a group together and hunt them down like Baba would. But to me, that would be close to harassing them, and I can´t do that. So I do it the adult way, hitting /ignore. And they get even more mad..go figure..
