The Council of Inquisition did meet in closed and formal session, to pass judgement upon Lorian. We did there decide the following, and do hereby make public pronouncement, to wit:

It is decided that Lorian hath been the victim rather than the criminal in this sad affair, and hath suffered greatly and unwillingly at the hands of the villain Sendorian and his minions.

Nevertheless, she did perform most terrible acts; merely to pronounce innocence is insufficient. Thus we, the Council do bid her do the following, in the hopes that she may one day find peace within her soul, and rest content in the bosom of her race.

• We bid thee, Lorian, by root and branch, by honour and love, to lay down every one of thy weapons, never more to take them up. We bid thee kill no more any living thing, be it beast or bird, be it low or high, and so to walk in gentle peace through this our Land.
  
  
• We bid thee, Lorian, by root and branch, by honour and love, to devote thy life to the assistance of all members of the Sylvan race. To aid them, to succour them and to heal them, in any place, at any time, an they be in need, though it cause thy death.
  
  
• We bid thee, Lorian, by root and branch, by honour and love, to hold to these things until such time as thou dost perform a pilgrimage to the sacred places of the Sylvan Race, there to commune with thy soul and the souls of all those so foully slain who have gone before. When thou hast received absolution at their hands, and only then, do we bid thee lay down the burdens of thy guilt.

We lay upon thee these charges, not as punishment, but in hopes of thine own eventual salvation.

The Council has spoken. Thus shall it be.
